Test 4, 5, & 6, Stator

Stator Tests:

TEST 4, STATOR

1. Disconnect harness connector from distributor and check for dirt, corrosion or damage.
2. Using a suitable ohmmeter, measure resistance between stator connector terminals 1 and 5.
3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, proceed to TEST 5. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace stator.

Stator Tests:

TEST 5, STATOR

1. Disconnect harness connector from distributor and check for dirt, corrosion or damage.
2. Using a suitable ohmmeter, measure resistance between stator connector terminal 2 and distributor base, and stator connector 6 and distributor base.
. If resistance is less than 1 ohm in each case, proceed to TEST 6. If resistance is greater than 1 ohm in each case, inspect stator retaining screws in distributor bowl. If satisfactory, replace stator.

TEST 6, STATOR

1. Place shift lever in PARK (NEUTRAL if manual transmission), then set parking brake.
2. Disconnect TFI module harness connector. Attach TFI tester, Rotunda No. 105-00003 or equivalent, to battery positive and TFI harness connector.
