Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

In-Line Fuel Filter:

REMOVAL

1. Depressurize fuel system by cranking the engine for a minimum of 15 seconds with the electrical connector at the Inertia Switch disconnected, or by using a fuel pressure gauge.
2. Remove the push connect fittings at both ends of the filter. Install new retainer clips in each push connect fitting.
3. Remove fuel filter from bracket by loosening "flow" arrow as installed in the bracket to ensure proper direction of fuel flow through replacement filter.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the fuel filter into the bracket, ensuring the proper direction of flow.
2. Tighten worm gear clamp to 15-25 lb. in. (1.7-2.8 N-m).
3. Install the push connect fittings onto the filter ends.
4. Start the engine and check for leaks.
