Control Pressure Tests

CONTROL PRESSURE TEST
1. Ensure Throttle Valve (TV) linkage is properly adjusted.

Pressure Tap Locations:

2. Connect a 0.0 to 300 psi pressure gauge to line pressure port located on left side of transmission case above control levers.
3. Connect a 0.0 to 100 psi pressure gauge to TV port on right side of transmission.

CAUTION: Pressure gauges affect shift quality of transmission. Care should be taken not to accelerate or decelerate rapidly. Possible transmission failure could result.

NOTE: Idle pressure must be read with throttle off fast idle.

4. Start engine and allow to each operating temperature.
5. Apply service and parking brakes, then shift selector lever through all ranges. Record line pressure and throttle pressure readings at idle.

Control Pressure Test Chart:

6. Compare readings to specifications in the Control Pressure Test Chart. Wide open throttle readings are to be made at full stall. Run engine at fast idle to cool transmission fluid between tests.

Control Pressure Diagnosis Chart:

7. If control pressure is not as specified refer to the Control Pressure Diagnosis Chart.
