Fig. 7 Remove Airbag Module:
1. Disable airbag system as described under Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair/Airbag System Disarming
2. Center front wheels to straight ahead position.
3. Disconnect battery ground cable.
4. On 1991-94 models, disconnect back-up power supply.
5. On all models, remove four airbag module retaining nuts, then lift module off steering wheel, Fig. 7.
6. Disconnect airbag wire harness from module, then remove module.
7. Disconnect speed control wire harness from steering wheel.
8. Remove steering wheel retaining bolt.
9. Using steering wheel puller tool No. T67L-3600-A or equivalent, remove steering wheel.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure airbag wire is not pinched.
b. Install new steering wheel bolt and torque to 23-33 ft. lbs.
c. Torque airbag module retaining nuts to 3-4 ft. lbs.
d. Rearm airbag as described under Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair/Airbag System Disarming.
