^ Anti-theft alarm control (if equipped)
^ Memory seat module (if equipped with "personality" feature)

Entry Code

Entry Code:

The system's (permanent) entry code is located in four places: on the owner's warranty card, on a label on the inside of the luggage compartment door, on an owner's code card, and on the electronic door lock control processor.

The electronic door lock control processor is programmed at the factory with a five-digit entry code. Replacement electronic door lock control processors include replacement labels and a new owner's code card.

Door Lock Switch Actuator

To unlock the driver's door, enter the permanent factory code or the owner's alternate code. This will also disarm antitheft alarm system, if equipped.

To unlock the passenger door(s), press the 3/4 button within five seconds of unlocking the driver's door or luggage compartment.

To unlock the luggage compartment door, press the 5/6 button within five seconds of unlocking driver's or passenger door(s).

To turn on the interior lamps, lift either front door handle or press any button on the door lock switch actuator. All illuminated components will light.

To program temporary code, press 1/2 button within five seconds of last command. Enter any alternate five digit code within five seconds of pressing 1/2 button.

To lock all doors, press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time. It is not necessary to enter the key code first. This will turn off courtesy lamps and arm antitheft alarm system, if equipped.

Autolock

All doors will automatically lock after all the following steps are completed:

^ The autolock feature is activated.
^ The driver's seat is occupied.
^ All doors are fully closed.
^ The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
^ The shift control selector lever passes through the REVERSE position.

After initial lock, all doors automatically re-lock when any door is opened and then closed, unless driver's seat is empty or ignition switch is OFF.

To activate the autolock feature, perform the following steps:

1. Enter the five-digit permanent entry code into door lock switch actuator.
2. Within five seconds of entering the code, press and hold the 7/8 button on the door lock switch actuator.
3. While holding the 7/8 button, press and then release the 3/4 button.
4. Within five seconds of releasing the 3/4 button, release the 7/8 button on door lock switch actuator.

To deactivate the autolock, repeat the above procedure.

Transmitter

The electronic door lock control system includes a four-button (hand-held) transmitter. Transmitter(s) are re-programmable and all transmitters for the vehicle must be set at the same time. When troubleshooting the system, one transmitter is essential to perform tests.

NOTE: These features will not function when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position.

To unlock the driver's door, press the UNLOCK button on the transmitter (which is programmed into the module) once. This will also disarm the antitheft system, if equipped.

To unlock all doors, press the UNLOCK button on the transmitter. The second press must be within five seconds of the first.

NOTE: If more than five seconds have elapsed since the first press of the UNLOCK button, pressing the UNLOCK button again will only unlock the driver's door.

To unlock the luggage compartment door, press the blue TRUNK button on the transmitter once.

To turn on interior lamps and keyhole illumination, press any of the following transmitter buttons:

UNLOCK, TRUNK or PANIC.

To lock all doors, press LOCK button on the transmitter once. This will also arm the anti-theft alarm system, if equipped.

To confirm that doors have locked, press LOCK button again, within five seconds of the first press. This will beep the horn and lock all doors again.

To activate the personal security alarm, press the red PANIC button on the transmitter. The horn will beep and parking lamps will flash for a maximum of three minutes.

To deactivate the personal security alarm, press the red PANIC button again or turn the ignition switch to RUN.

Transmitter Programming

NOTE: The electronic door lock control processor erases all previous transmitters from memory when the transmitters are programmed or re-programmed. The electronic door lock control processor can store up to four transmitters in memory.

To program (or re-program) transmitter(s) into the electronic door lock control processor, perform the following steps:

1. Turn ignition switch to RUN or ACC position and momentarily short the two terminals of the Program Connector (J4) (a two-pin connector taped to the wire assembly and accessed by dropping the glove compartment). All doors should lock then unlock. Remove shorting pin.
2. Press any button on transmitter. All doors should lock then unlock, to verify that transmitter has been programmed.

NOTE: If door locks do not respond, press button again (up to three times maximum with the same transmitter). If door locks still fail to respond, go to Pinpoint Test 1.

3. Repeat Step 2 to program additional transmitters into the electronic door lock control processor (up to four transmitters maximum).
4. Turn ignition switch OFF. All doors should lock then unlock.
5. Check operation.

Battery Saver

The electronic door look control processor includes a battery saver relay which supplies power to the convenience lamps (circuit 705), courtesy lamps (circuit 53) and luggage compartment lamp (circuit 707) when active. When the battery saver relay deactivates, power is removed from these lamps.

The battery saver relay is activated anytime the electronic door lock control processor receives an input signal. This relay deactivates 45 minutes after the last input to the electronic door lock control processor.

NOTE: The battery saver relay does NOT control power to the headlamps.

Memory Seat Feature

Late production vehicles may allow the remote keyless system to control the Memory Seat Module. With this feature, each of the first three transmitters programmed recalls different seat positions.

Pressing the transmitter UNLOCK button once will unlock the driver door and move the seat to its corresponding memory seat position, just as if the memory seat button in the vehicle had been depressed.

When programming new transmitters, the order of programming controls seat recall as follows:

^ First Transmitter Programmed - Recall Seat Position No.1
^ Second Transmitter Programmed - Recall Seat Position No.2
^ Third Transmitter Programmed - Recall Seat Position No.3
^ Fourth Transmitter Programmed - NO Recall (Memory Seat allows only three memory positions)

The driver may change seat positions at any time. Once programmed, Transmitter No.1 will always move the seat to position No.1.

The feature is turned ON at the factory. The system can be de-activated by using the buttons for the keyless entry system.

To de-activate the Memory Seat feature:

1. Enter module permanent five-digit entry code.
2. Within five seconds, press and hold 7/8.
3. Within five more seconds, press and release 5/6.
4. Release7/8.

To re-activate the memory seat system, simply repeat the instructions for de-activating the system. By re-entering the code that de-activates the memory seat, the keyless entry system re-instates the feature.

NOTE: The memory seat function will continue to work from the door switch even when de-activated at the remote keyless entry module. Only remote seat recall can be de-activated.
