OWNER NOTIFICATION PROGRAM 94B48 FUEL TANK CONTAMINATION

TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Drain and remove fuel tank. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual, Section 10-01 for the removal and installation procedures.

2. Remove the fuel pump/sender. Refer to the appropriate Service Manual, Section 10-01, for the removal and installation procedures.

3. Flush the fuel tank with water, even if no visible contamination is noted. Fuel tank weld spatter contamination may not be visible to the eye, due to the small size of the particles. Remove any contamination built up in crevices and use shop vacuum to remove water from fuel tank.

WARNING:
DO NOT USE SHOP VACUUM UNTIL THE FUEL TANK IS THOROUGHLY RINSED WITH WATER.

4. If the vehicle has less than 1,000 miles, steam clean the fuel tank after the water flush.

5. Install a new fuel pump/sender assembly.

6. Reinstall the fuel tank.

7. Replace the in-line fuel filter assembly.

8. Return the fuel drained from the tank.

NOTE:
FUEL SHOULD BE FILTERED BEFORE IT IS RETURNED TO THE TANK, USING THE FILTER BUILT INTO THE ROTUNDA FUEL STORAGE TANKER OR EQUIVALENT.
