Instrument Panel - Air Bag Delete Panel
Removal and Installation1. Disconnect positive battery cable.
2. Remove instrument panel mouldings by snapping them out of retainers.
3. Remove instrument panel finish panel.
4. Remove headlamp switch knob and shafts.
5. Disconnect electrical connectors and switches from instrument panel finish panel.
NOTE: it may also be necessary to loosen the four steering column tube mounting nuts and lower steering column tube to provide additional clearance. Instrument panel moulding and knee bolster must first be removed.
6. Position shift control selector lever and housing into Low, rotate steering wheel 90 degrees, tilt steering wheel down and remove instrument panel finish panel by pulling the bottom out first.
7. Remove four retaining screws from instrument panel finish panel.
8. To install, reverse Removal procedure.
9. Tighten steering column tube nuts to 21-28 Nm (16-20 lb-ft). Install knee bolster.
10. Turn ignition switch on and verify that air bag indicator lights for approximately six seconds and goes out.
