Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.





2. Remove the bolts from the power steering pump reservoir.





3. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.





4. Remove the CMP sensor.
1 Remove the bolt from the sensor.
2 Remove the sensor from the vehicle.

5. Clean the gasket surface.

INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

CAUTION: Do not overtighten retaining screw or damage to camshaft position sensor may occur.
