EVAP System - Diagnosis and Testing

Introduction

The following TSB is to be used with TSB 97-19A, released 9/22/97.
Part I is intended to further diagnose a DTC or symptom concern on vehicle applications with a Running Loss EVAP System with the fuel vapor control valve tube assembly connected to the fuel filler pipe.

Part I is only intended to be used for the following applications:

^ 1995-97 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis and Town Car

^ 1996 Taurus/Sable

^ 1997 Mark VIII (up to 3/97)

^ 1998 Mustang (California only)

^ 1995-97 Continental

Part II is to be used on vehicle applications with a Running Loss EVAP System with an in-line fuel vapor control valve tube assembly.

Part II is only intended to be used for the following applications:

^ 1997-98 Taurus/Sable (4V, Flex Fuel, SHO)

^ 1997-98 Windstar

^ 1997 Mark VIII (after 3/97)

When using this TSB, follow the same diagnostic routine used in the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Service Manual.
