Removal

NOTE: Use Digital Transmission Range (TR) Sensor Alignment Tool to adjust digital TR sensors.





1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.

WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE SHUT OFF PRIOR TO HOISTING, JACKING OR TOWING AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY TURNING OFF THE AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH LOCATED IN THE RH KICK PANEL AREA. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS WHICH MAY RESULT IN SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS.

3. Drain the transmission fluid and remove the fluid pan and filter.
4. Disconnect digital TR sensor electrical connector.





5. Disconnect the transmission shift linkage.





6. Remove the digital transmission range (TR) sensor.
(1) Remove the two bolts.
(2) Remove the TR sensor.





7. Remove the manual control valve detent lever spring.
(1) Remove the bolt.
(2) Remove the manual control valve detent lever spring.





8. Remove the manual lever shaft retaining pin.

NOTE: Use a shop cloth to protect the transmission case surface.





9. Remove the inner manual control lever shaft nut and slide the manual control lever shaft out of the case.





10. Remove the (A) manual valve detent lever and (B) parking lever actuating rod.





11. Remove the manual control lever shaft seal.

CAUTION: Use care not to damage the manual control lever shaft bore.
