Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

NOTE:
- Before starting electrical diagnosis, check for mechanical binds by manually operating the door locks. Operate lock system several times from each switch while observing the operation of all door locks. Be sure battery is fully charged.
- The Lighting Control Module (LCM) must be reconfigured upon replacement. Refer to Module Communications Network (Information Bus).

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

3. If the concern program card is correctly installed.
- check the connections to the vehicle.
- check the ignition switch position.
4. If the scan tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the scan tool manual.
5. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. If the scan tool responds with:
- CKT 914, CKT 915 or CKT 70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Module Communications Network (Information Bus).
- NO RESPINOT EQUIP for DDM, go to Pinpoint Test B. Test B: No Communication With the Module - Unable to Perform on-Demand Self-on Driver Door Module
- NO RESPINOT EQUIP for LCM, go to Pinpoint Test A. Test A: No Communication With the Module - Unable to Perform on-Demand Self-on Lighting Control Module
- SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record the continuous Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs, and carry out self-test diagnostics for the DDM or LCM.
6. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to DDM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index or LCM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics. Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
7. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
