Center Link: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Note: Both the left side and the right side inner tie rod ends are removed the same way. Only the left side is shown.
Remove the castle nut.
1. Remove the cotter pin.
2. Remove the nut.
3. Remove the tie rod end from the steering sector shaft arm drag link.
1. Install the Tie Rod End Remover.
2. Remove the tie rod end.
4. Remove the nut.
5. Using the Tie Rod End Remover, disconnect the steering gear sector shaft arm from the steering sector shaft arm drag link.
6. Remove the idler arm castle nut.
1. Remove the cotter pin.
2. Remove the nut and washer.
7. Remove the steering sector shaft arm drag link.
Installation
Note: Before installing the idler arm to the drag link, make sure the idler arm is in the straight ahead position (parallel to the vehicle's centerline).
1. Install the steering sector shaft arm drag link onto the steering idler arm and bracket.
2. Install the steering idler arm and bracket castle nut.
1. Install the washer and the castle nut.
2. Install a new cotter pin.
3. Install the steering gear sector shaft arm onto the steering sector shaft arm drag link.
1. Position the steering gear sector shaft arm onto the steering sector shaft arm drag link.
2. Install a new lock nut.
4. Note: Both the left side and the right side inner tie rod ends are installed the same way. Only the left side is shown.
Install the tie rod end.
1. Position the tie rod end into the steering sector shaft arm drag link.
2. Install the nut.
3. Install a new cotter pin.
5. Lower the vehicle.
