PINPOINT TEST R: THE HIGH BEAM INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ONTest R1-R3:
Test R3-R4:
Normal Operation
The instrument cluster uses both headlamp switch position and multifunction switch position inputs to control the high beam indicator. The headlamp switch signal is transmitted to the instrument cluster from the headlamp switch through signal circuit 8-LE21 (WH/GN) and return circuit 9-LE29 (BN/GN). Once the instrument cluster sees the headlamp ON signal, the cluster monitors resistance through the multifunction switch to determine whether the switch is in the high beam or low beam position. The multifunction switch is hardwired to the instrument cluster through signal circuit 8-LE14 (WH/BU) and return circuit 9-LG43 (BN/WH). Instrument cluster DTC B1567 will set if circuit 8-LE14 (WH/BU) is open or shorted.
Possible Causes
- circuit 8-LE14 (WH/BU) open, short to ground or short to power
- circuit 9-LG43 (BN/WH) open, short to ground or short to power
- multifunction switch
- instrument cluster
