Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSORRemoval and Installation
Both camshaft position (CMP) sensors
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the throttle body.
RH CMP sensor
4. Remove the 2 bolts, the nut and the upper intake manifold support bracket.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
5. Disconnect the RH CMP electrical connector.
6. Remove the bolt and the RH CMP sensor.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Inspect and install a new O-ring seal as necessary.
LH CMP sensor
7. Remove the fuel tube bracket bolt and position the fuel tube aside.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
8. Disconnect the LH CMP sensor electrical connector.
9. Remove the bolt and the LH CMP sensor.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
- Inspect and install a new O-ring seal as necessary.
Both CMP sensors
10. NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
