Test G: DTC C1277/C1278 - Steering Wheel Angle 1 and 2 Circuit Failure/Faulted

Pinpoint Test G: DTC C1277/C1278 - Steering Wheel Angle 1 and 2 Circuit Failure/Faulted

Normal Operation
The steering wheel rotation sensor monitors the steering wheel position when the toothed-wheel on the steering shaft passes through its magnetic field.

Steering wheel rotation (in degrees) is sent to the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module through circuit 8-CC18 (WH/RD) and circuit 10-CC17 (GY). Voltage is supplied by the ABS module through circuit 7-CC1 (YE/RD). Ground is provided by the ABS module through circuit 9-CC1 (BN/RD).

Possible Causes
^ Sensor signal circuit 8-CC18 (WH/RD) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
^ Sensor signal circuit 10-CC17 (GY) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
^ Sensor power circuit 7-CC1 (YE/RD) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
^ Sensor ground circuit 9-CC1 (BN/RD) open, short to ground, or short to voltage
^ Steering wheel rotation sensor
