PINPOINT TEST A: THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY

A1-A3:

A4-A5:

Normal Operation
When the key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder, the key-in-ignition switch (part of the ignition switch) closes circuit 158 (BK/PK) to the instrument cluster. The 12 volt input signals the instrument cluster that the key is inserted. If the instrument cluster detects that the ignition lock cylinder is in the OFF position with the key inserted in the ignition cylinder and the driver door is ajar, the key-in-ignition warning chime sounds.

Possible Causes
- circuit 158 (BK/PK) open or short to ground
- key-in-ignition warning switch (part of the ignition switch)
- instrument cluster
