Front Seat Backrest - 60 Percent
FRONT SEAT BACKREST - 60 PERCENTRemoval
WARNING:
- The safety belt pretensioner is a pyrotechnic device. Always wear safety glasses when repairing an air bag equipped vehicle and when handling a safety belt buckle pretensioner or safety belt retractor pretensioner. Never probe a pretensioner electrical connector. Doing so could result in pretensioner or air bag deployment and could result in personal injury.
- To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not use any memory saver devices.
NOTE:
- If a seat equipped with a supplemental restraint system (SRS) component is being serviced, the SRS must be depowered.
- The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the RCM fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
- The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
1. Position the seat to gain access to all seat track-to-floor fasteners.
2. Depower the SRS.
3. Remove the 60 percent seat.
4. Remove the manual backrest adjust handle screw cover.
5. Remove the manual backrest adjust handle screw and cover.
6. CAUTION: Use care when removing the manual lumbar adjust knob. Using both hands, pull with even pressure on both sides of the knob to remove.
Remove the manual lumbar adjust knob.
7. Remove the 2 screws from the side of the cushion side shield.
8. Remove the front screw from the cushion side shield.
9. Remove the rear screw from the cushion side shield.
10. Remove the 2 screws and separate the manual lumbar actuator.
11. NOTE: The manual lumbar support must be fully relaxed.
Separate the manual lumbar actuator from the adjuster cable.
12. Release the backrest trim cover lower J-clip.
13. Release the backrest trim cover lower inner J-clip.
14. Remove the cushion frame-to-backrest frame pivot bolt.
- Invert the backrest trim cover to expose the backrest bolts.
15. Remove the backrest recliner-to-backrest frame bolts.
16. CAUTION: Do not damage the plastic pivot bushing when removing the backrest.
Pull the backrest frame away from the inboard hinge and feed the lumbar support cable through the cushion opening to remove the backrest.
Installation
1. CAUTION: Do not damage the plastic pivot bushing when installing the backrest.
Position the backrest frame to the inboard hinge and feed the lumbar support cable through the cushion opening to install the backrest.
2. Install the backrest recliner-to-backrest frame bolts.
- Tighten to 43 Nm (32 lb-ft).
3. Install the cushion frame-to-backrest frame pivot bolt.
- Tighten to 43 Nm (32 lb-ft).
- Reposition the backrest trim cover.
4. Connect the backrest trim cover lower inner J-clip.
5. Connect the backrest trim cover lower J-clip.
6. Connect the manual lumbar actuator to the adjuster cable.
7. Position the manual lumbar actuator to the cushion frame and install the 2 screws.
8. Install the cushion side shield rear screw.
9. Install the cushion side shield front screw.
10. Install the 2 screws on the side of the cushion side shield.
11. Install the manual lumbar adjust knob.
12. Position the manual backrest adjust handle and install the screw.
13. Install the manual backrest adjust handle screw cover.
14. Install the 60 percent seat.
15. Repower the SRS.
