Inspection and Verification

INSPECTION AND VERIFICATION

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the power seat, memory seat or climate controlled seat functions.

2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.
3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
4. If the concern is with the power seat (non-memory seat) or the power lumbar and the cause is not visually evident, verify the symptom and GO to Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
5. If the concern is with the memory seat or climate controlled seat and the cause is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC) and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
- check that the program card is correctly installed.
- check the connections to the vehicle.
- check the ignition switch position.

6. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool manual.
7. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTICS test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
- CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70=ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Information Bus (Module Communications Network).
- NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for driver DSM, refer to Body Control Systems (Multifunction Electronic Control Module).
- NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for climate controlled seat module, GO to Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
- SYSTEM PASSED for the DSM, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), clear the continuous DTCs and carry out self-test diagnostics for the DSM.
- SYSTEM PASSED for the climate controlled seat module, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), clear the continuous DTCs and carry out self-test diagnostics for the climate controlled seat module.

9. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, GO to Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
