Pinpoint Test AP: The Memory Feedback Warning Chime Is Inoperative

Normal Operation

The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) receives the memory feedback chime request from the Driver Seat Module (DSM) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) communication bus. When a successful memory set procedure is carried out, the DSM sends a chime request to the IPC to sound the memory feedback chime.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Key-in-ignition warning chime
- DSM



PINPOINT TEST AP: THE MEMORY FEEDBACK WARNING CHIME IS INOPERATIVE

AP1 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME OPERATION


- Ignition OFF.
- On vehicles without Intelligent Access (IA), insert the key into the ignition lock cylinder.
- On vehicles equipped with IA, place the ignition in the ACC mode.
- Open the LH front door and observe the key-in-ignition warning chime operation.
- Does the key-in-ignition warning chime operate correctly?

Yes
GO to AP2.

No
GO to Pinpoint Test AI. Pinpoint Tests AI: The Chime Sounds When The Driver Door Is Ajar (No Key In Ignition And Headlamps Off)

AP2 CHECK THE MEMORY SET FEATURE


- Verify that the memory set procedure can successfully change the memory preferences.
- Does the memory set procedure successfully change the memory preferences?

Yes
GO to AP3.

No
REFER to Seats.

AP3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST


- Check for recorded DTCs from the IPC self-test.
- Is DTC U0208:00 recorded?

Yes
GO to Pinpoint Test BA. Pinpoint Tests BA: DTC U0208:00

No
INSTALL a new DSM. REFER to Body Control Systems. TEST the system for normal operation.
