Pinpoint Test P: The Heated Seat Does Not Operate Correctly - Right Rear Seat Does Heat but the Heated Seat Indicator Does Not Illuminate When Pressed
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 119, Climate Controlled Seats for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
Upon receiving a pulsed ground from the Rear Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (RHVAC) module, the rear heated seat module will decrease one setting (the sequence is high, low, off, high). Circuits CHS53 (WH/BN) and CHS52 (BU) between the rear heated seat module and RHVAC module control the indicator operation. When voltage is supplied to the RHVAC module on circuits CHS53 (WH/BN) and CHS52 (BU) the appropriate indicator will illuminate. When a heated seat is set to high, both indicators on the heated seat control button will illuminate. When a heated seat is set to low, only the lower indicator will illuminate. When a heated seat is set to off, neither will be illuminated.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- RHVAC module
- Rear heated seat module
PINPOINT TEST P: THE HEATED SEAT DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY - RIGHT REAR SEAT DOES HEAT BUT THE HEATED SEAT INDICATOR DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN PRESSED
-------------------------------------------------
P1 CHECK THE INDICATOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: RHVAC Module C3198.
- Disconnect: Heated Seat Module C3304A.
- Measure the resistance between:
- heated seat module C3304A-10, circuit CHS53 (WH/BN), harness side and ground.
- heated seat module C3304A-11, circuit CHS52 (BU), harness side and ground.
- Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
GO to P2.
No
REPAIR the circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
P2 CHECK THE INDICATOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between:
- RHVAC module C3198-4, circuit CHS53 (WH/BN), harness side and heated seat module C3304A-10, circuit CHS53 (WH/BN), harness side.
- RHVAC module C3198-8, circuit CHS52 (BU), harness side and heated seat module C3304A-11, circuit CHS52 (BU), harness side.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to P3.
No
REPAIR the circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
-------------------------------------------------
P3 CHECK THE HEATED SEAT HIGH INDICATOR
- Connect: RHVAC Module C3198.
- Disconnect: Heated Seat Module C3304B.
- Ignition ON.
- Connect a fused jumper lead between heated seat module C3304A-11, circuit CHS52 (BU), harness side and C3304B-3, circuit SBB07 (WH/RD), harness side.
- Does the high indicator illuminate on the RHVAC module?
Yes
GO to P4.
No
INSTALL a new RHVAC module.
-------------------------------------------------
P4 CHECK THE HEATED SEAT LOW INDICATOR
- Connect a fused jumper lead between heated seat module C3304A-10, circuit CHS53 (WH/BN), harness side and C3304B-3, circuit SBB07 (WH/RD), harness side.
- Does the low indicator illuminate on the RHVAC module?
Yes
INSTALL a new heated seat module. REFER to Heated Seat Module - Second Row Heated Seat Module - Second Row. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new RHVAC module.
