Pinpoint Test C: A Single Power Window is Inoperative - LH Front

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

NOTE: A new power window motor will not operate in one-touch up mode until initialized. Refer to Window Motor Initialization Testing and Inspection.

NOTE: The power window motor must be initialized whenever a new motor is installed.

NOTE: The power window motor must be de-initialized, then initialized whenever the window motor is removed from the window regulator drum housing, a new window regulator is installed, a new window glass is installed, a new top run is installed or for any operation in which grease or lubricants are applied to the window regulator or glass run.

Normal Operation

Under normal operation, the LH front power window motor receives high current power at all times through circuit SBB30 (BN/RD). Ground is provided to the LH front power window motor through circuit GD133 (BK). The LH front power window control switch and LH front power window motor receive low current power from the accessory delay relay through circuit CBP41 (BU). When the LH front window control switch is operated in the UP position, the LH front window motor receives a voltage signal through circuit CPW11 (BU/GY). When the LH front window control switch is operated in the DOWN position, the LH front window motor receives a voltage signal through circuit CPW10 (YE/VT).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- LH front window regulator motor not initialized
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- LH front window regulator motor
- LH front window control switch

PINPOINT TEST C: A SINGLE POWER WINDOW IS INOPERATIVE - LH FRONT

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

-------------------------------------------------
C1 CHECK THE POWER TO THE WINDOW MOTOR

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Motor C524.
- Measure the voltage between LH front window motor C524-1, circuit SBB30 (BN/RD), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to C2.

No
VERIFY Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuse 30 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization Testing and Inspection. TEST the system for normal operation.

If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization Testing and Inspection. TEST the system for normal operation. Diagrams By Number

-------------------------------------------------
C2 CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW MOTOR DELAYED ACCESSORY FEED

- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between LH front window motor C524-3, circuit CBP41 (BU), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to C3.

No
REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization Testing and Inspection. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
C3 CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW MOTOR GROUND

- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance between LH front window motor C524-2, circuit GD133 (BK), harness side and ground.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to C4.

No
REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization Testing and Inspection. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
C4 CHECK CIRCUIT CPW10 (YE/VT) FOR AN OPEN

- Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C504.
- Measure the resistance between LH front window motor C524-5, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side and LH front window control switch C504-12, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to C5.

No
REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization Testing and Inspection. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
C5 CHECK CIRCUIT CPW11 (BU/GY) FOR AN OPEN

- Measure the resistance between LH front window motor C524-4, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side and LH front window control switch C504-5, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to C6.

No
REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE, then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization Testing and Inspection. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
C6 CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH

- Carry out the LH front window control switch component test.

- Did the LH front window control switch pass the component test?

Yes
INSTALL a new LH front window regulator motor. REFER to Window Regulator Motor - Front Door Window Regulator Motor - Front Door. INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization Testing and Inspection. TEST the system for normal operation.
