Coolant Inlet Pipe





NOTE: LH cylinder head, upper and lower intake manifold are removed for clarity.










Removal

1. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) and ACL outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

2. Remove the thermostat housing. For additional information, refer to Thermostat Housing Service and Repair.

3. NOTE: The cylinder heads are removed for clarity.

Remove the coolant inlet pipe.

- Remove and discard the O-ring seals.





4. Remove all residual coolant from the cylinder block valley.

Installation

1. NOTICE: Genuine Mazda(R) Extended Life Coolant and Motorcraft(R) Specialty Green Engine Coolant are very sensitive to light. Do NOT allow these products to be exposed to ANY LIGHT for more than a day or two. Extended light exposure causes these products to degrade.

NOTE: Apply clean engine coolant to the O-ring seals prior to installation.

NOTE: The cylinder heads are removed for clarity.

Using new O-ring seals, install the coolant inlet pipe.





2. Install the thermostat housing. For additional information, refer to Thermostat Housing Service and Repair.

3. Install the ACL and ACL outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
