Liftgate
Removal and Installation
1. Remove the D-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to Interior Trim and Ornamentation D-Pillar Trim Panel.
2. Remove the C-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to Interior Trim and Ornamentation C-Pillar Trim Panel.
3. Lower the rear of the headliner.
- Pull downward on the rear of the headliner to release the rear pin-type retainers from the body.
4. Disconnect the liftgate electrical connector.
- Pull outward to release the wiring harness retainers from the body.
5. Disconnect the rear washer hose routing.
6. Disconnect the grommets from the vehicle body.
- Position the wiring harness through the vehicle body.
- Position the rear washer hose routing through the vehicle body.
7. Remove the power liftgate rod-to-liftgate nut cover and nut.
- To install, apply threadlock to the threads of the fastener and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
8. Remove the power liftgate rod from the liftgate.
9. Support the liftgate in the open position.
10. Remove the liftgate struts.
11. With help from an assistant, remove the liftgate hinge-to-liftgate bolts.
- To install, tighten to 34 Nm (25 lb-ft).
12. With help from an assistant, remove the liftgate.
13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- If equipped with power liftgate, initialize the power liftgate system. For additional information, refer to Power Liftgate Initialization Procedures.
