In-Vehicle Crossbeam
Removal and Installation
1. NOTICE: When prying on a component, a non-marring tool must be used or damage to the component may occur.
Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing. For additional information, refer to Climate Control Heater Core And Evaporator Core Housing.
2. Position the instrument panel upward.
3. Remove the glove compartment in the following sequence.
1. Open the glove compartment and press the 2 upper corner tabs up.
2. Lower the door.
3. Pull door upward, releasing the glove compartment hinge from the instrument panel.
4. Remove the steering column multifunction switch. For additional information, refer to Steering Column Steering Column.
5. Remove the Audio Control Module (ACM) in the following sequence.
1. Remove the 4 ACM screws.
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
6. With a non-marring tool, pry the instrument panel top speaker cover upward releasing the retaining clips.
7. Remove the 4 center finish panel screws and pull the panel releasing the retaining clips.
8. Remove the LH instrument panel finish panel.
- Pull rearward releasing the 3 retaining clips.
9. Remove Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) in the following sequence.
1. Remove the 4 FDIM screws.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector(s).
10. With a non-marring tool, pry the 2 instrument panel upper bolt covers upward to release from the defroster grille.
11. Remove the 2 instrument panel upper bolts.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
12. Remove the light sensor. For additional information, refer to Exterior Lighting Service and Repair.
13. If equipped, remove the Head Up Display (HUD) module. For additional information, refer to Collision Avoidance Service and Repair.
14. Remove LH instrument panel upper section in the following sequence.
1. Remove the 4 LH instrument panel upper section screws.
2. Pull upward releasing the retaining clips.
15. Remove the 3 instrument cluster finish panel extension screws and panel.
16. Remove the Instrument Cluster (IC) in the following sequence.
1. Remove the IC 4 screws.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
17. Disconnect the start/stop button electrical connector, if equipped.
18. Disconnect the instrument panel top speaker electrical connector.
19. Remove the RH instrument panel trim panel. Pull the panel upward releasing the retaining clips.
20. Remove the 5 screws and RH instrument panel trim retaining plate.
21. Remove the glove compartment opening trim cover in the following sequence.
1. Remove the 4 screws.
2. Pull the cover upward releasing the 6 retaining clips.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
22. Remove the 2 glove compartment striker screws and 2 screws above glove compartment opening.
23. Through the glove compartment opening remove the 2 passenger side air bag-to-crossbeam bolts.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
24. Release the passenger side air bag wire harness retainer and disconnect the in-line electrical connector.
25. Remove the 13 instrument panel front and side screws.
- Remove the 2 screws from the LH and RH sides of the instrument panel.
- Remove the 4 screws located in the glove compartment hinge area.
- Remove the 5 screws located in the steering column opening trim panel area.
- Remove the 2 screws located in the IC opening.
26. Release the wire harness retainers from the FDIM and Audio Control Module (ACM) openings.
27. NOTICE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are not hindered before removing the in-vehicle crossbeam or damage to the components may occur.
Remove the in-vehicle crossbeam.
28. NOTICE: Make sure that all electrical connectors and wiring are correctly routed when installing the in-vehicle crossbeam or damage to the components may occur.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Transfer parts as needed.
- To install, make sure to align the retaining clips to the adjacent retaining clip holes.
