Seat Backrest - Second Row, 40 Percent, Bench
Removal
WARNING: Keep hands clear of all moving seat mechanisms when releasing the recliner lever. The recliners are spring loaded and release with high force. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE: For parts identification and location, refer to Seat - Exploded View, Second Row Seat - Exploded View, Second Row.
1. Release the backrest cover J-clips.
2. Release the retainers and remove the outer pivot cover on the inboard side of the seat.
- Slide a thin screw driver to the front side of the inner cover lip and work down releasing the tabs.
3. If equipped, disconnect the heater mat electrical connector.
4. Remove the pivot bolt.
5. NOTICE: Use care when separating the seat back cover from the hook-and-loop strip, or the hook-and-loop strip may be torn from the seat back foam.
Partially invert the backrest cover and remove the 2 recliner-to-backrest frame bolts.
6. Remove the backrest.
Installation
1. Position the backrest frame and hand start all bolts.
2. NOTE: Backrest cover and foam pad removed for clarity.
Install the backrest frame bolts in the following sequence.
1. Install the lower recliner-to-backrest frame bolt.
- Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
2. Install the upper recliner-to-backrest frame bolt.
- Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
3. Install the pivot bolt.
- Tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb-ft).
3. If equipped, connect the heater mat electrical connector.
4. Reposition the backrest cover over the 2 recliner-to-backrest frame bolts.
5. Attach the outer pivot cover on the inboard side of the seat.
6. Attach the 2 backrest cover inside J-clips to the hard back panel.
7. Attach the backrest cover lower J-clips.
