Pinpoint Test C: An Exterior Mirror BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) /CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LED Is Constantly On And An IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) Message Is Present

Normal Operation

On each ignition cycle, the Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right (SOD-R) and Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left (SOD-L) run a self diagnostic check during which the exterior mirror Blind Spot Information System (BLIS(R)) /Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) LEDs illuminate for 3 seconds then turn off indicating the system is operational. The CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system is enabled when the ignition switch is in the RUN position and the REVERSE (R) gear is selected. The system can be turned on and off through the message center, which is part of the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).

The SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) and SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) receive a PRNDL gear input and a vehicle speed signal message from the Body Control Module (BCM) through the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN). The CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system, SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) and SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) send a message through the MS-CAN (Medium Speed Controller Area Network) to the Parking Aid Module (PAM) to signal an audible tone to alert the driver.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors

- SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left)

- SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right)

- BCM (Body Control Module)

- Parking Aid Module (PAM)
