Pinpoint Test G: The BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) and CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) System Cannot Be Turned Off In The IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) Message Center

Normal Operation

The Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right (SOD-R) and Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left (SOD-L) communicate over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) with the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). The Blind Spot Information System (BLIS(R)) and the Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) system can be turned on and off through the message center which is part of the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster). The CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system cannot be disabled in the message center when the transmission selector gear is in REVERSE (R).

If a MyKey(TM) restricted key is in use, the BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) and/or the CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system cannot be disabled in the message center.

NOTE: The BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) and/or CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system are turned off for one key cycle only when using the message center switches. Permanently disabling the BLIS(R) (Blind Spot Information System) and/or CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system is carried out in the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) programmable parameters menu.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)

- A MyKey(TM) restricted key is in use
