Cowl Panel Grille









Upper and lower cowl panel grille

1. NOTE: The upper cowl panel grille must be removed before the lower cowl panel grille can be removed.

Remove the LH and RH wiper pivot arms.

2. Remove the RH and LH cowl side outer panels.

3. Remove the 4 upper cowl panel grille pin-type retainers.

4. Remove the 4 upper cowl panel grille bolts.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).


5. Remove the upper cowl panel grille.
- Disconnect the 2 upper cowl panel weatherstrip push pins (1 each side) from the fender and remove the upper cowl panel grille.


Lower cowl panel grille

6. Remove the wiper arm and wiper pivot shaft assembly.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

7. Remove the 2 bolts and the LH cowl panel extension.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-ft).


8. Remove the 4 bolts and the RH cowl panel extension.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-ft).


9. Disconnect the 2 wiring harness clips from the lower cowl grille panel.
- Disconnect the wiring harness clip from the LH side of the lower cowl grille panel behind the battery.

- Disconnect the wiring harness clip from the center of the lower cowl grille panel.


10. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors from the PCM.

11. Remove the bolt and position aside the radio noise cancellation sensor and bracket from the RH lower cowl grille panel.

12. Remove the 4 bolts and 3 nuts from inside the lower cowl grille panel.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).


13. Remove the bolt from the lower cowl panel-to-front of dash.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).


14. Position the foam shield off the lower cowl panel studs and remove the lower cowl grille panel.

15. NOTICE: Incorrect installation of the lower/upper cowl panel grille may cause damage to the windshield. Make sure the cowl panel grille clips are located under the windshield prior to installation.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Transfer components as necessary.

- Adjust the wiper pivot arms. For additional information refer to Wiper and Washer Systems.
