Pinpoint Test H: NO KEY DETECTED Is Displayed In The Message Center

Normal Operation

During each vehicle start sequence, if the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module does not detect an Intelligent Access (IA) key is within the passive start antennas range and the backup transceiver does not receive an IA (Intelligent Access) key identification code, the message center in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) displays the message NO KEY DETECTED.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- IA (Intelligent Access) key battery

- IA (Intelligent Access) key not present in the vehicle

- IA (Intelligent Access) key not programmed

PINPOINT TEST H : NO KEY DETECTED IS DISPLAYED IN THE MESSAGE CENTER

NOTE: The ignition must be OFF to carry out the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module self-test. The ignition must be ON to carry out the network test for the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module.

H1 CHECK THE IA (Intelligent Access) KEY LOCATION

- Place the IA (Intelligent Access) key in several locations within the vehicle and attempt to start the vehicle

Does the vehicle start with the IA (Intelligent Access) in certain areas only?

Yes
GO to Pinpoint Test F. Pinpoint Test F: The Vehicle Does Not Start With The Intelligent Access (IA) Key In Certain Areas Within The Vehicle

No
GO to H2.

H2 RETRIEVE THE RFA (Remote Function Actuator) MODULE DTCs

- Ignition OFF.

- Retrieve the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module continuous and on-demand DTCs.

Are there any RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module DTCs?

Yes
REFER to DTC Charts. Antitheft and Alarm Systems

No
GO to H3.

H3 CHECK THE IA (Intelligent Access) KEY BATTERY

- Verify the correct battery is used (CR2032).

- Remove the IA (Intelligent Access) key battery and measure the voltage.

Is the voltage greater than 2.5 volts?

Yes
GO to H4.

No
INSTALL a new battery. DO NOT reprogram the IA (Intelligent Access) key (damaged or dead batteries do not erase IA (Intelligent Access) keys from memory). TEST the system for normal operation.

H4 MONITOR THE RFA (Remote Function Actuator) MODULE PIDs

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: RFA (Remote Function Actuator) Module DataLogger.

- Monitor the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module PIDs N_KEYCODE (number of programmed keys) and MASTERKEY (PATS masterkey is present).

Does the RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module PIDs N_KEYCODE read 2 and MASTERKEY read Present?

Yes
CHECK the operation of the backup transceiver. GO to Pinpoint Test B. Pinpoint Test B: DTC B10D9:11, 12, 31 Or 87

No
PROGRAM the IA (Intelligent Access) keys. REFER to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment - Intelligent Access (IA) . TEST the system for normal operation.
