B2935
Power Liftgate
Pinpoint Test I: DTC B2935
Normal Operation
During an Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) self-test, the LTM (Liftgate/Trunk Module) monitors the time it takes for the power liftgate to open and close.
- DTC B2935 (Drive Unit Failure)- an on-demand DTC that sets when the time to complete a LTM (Liftgate/Trunk Module) Self-Test cycle (power open and power close to fully latched position) exceeds 20 seconds.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Mechanical binding
- Power liftgate latch
- Power liftgate motor
PINPOINT TEST I : DTC B2935
I1 RETRIEVE THE DTCs FROM THE LTM (Liftgate/Trunk Module)
- Use the recorded Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) DTCs from the self-test.
Are any LTM (Liftgate/Trunk Module) DTCs present?
Yes
REFER to the Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) DTC Chart Trunk / Liftgate.
No
GO to I2.
I2 CHECK THE MANUAL OPERATION OF THE LIFTGATE
- Ignition ON.
- Turn the power liftgate off (disable) from the message center.
- NOTE: A small amount of interference during a manual operation will be amplified during a power operation and may cause the liftgate to not power open.
Manually unlatch the liftgate.
Does the liftgate unlatch correctly?
Yes
GO to I3.
No
INSTALL a new latch.
I3 CHECK THE MANUAL OPERATION OF THE LIFTGATE
- While manually opening and closing the liftgate, check the liftgate for:
- liftgate/wedge alignment.
- strut operation (struts should push liftgate open when beyond half open).
- power liftgate rod (should move freely while manually opening and closing liftgate and be securely mounted to the liftgate and bracket).
- hinges (should move freely).
Does the liftgate open and close correctly without any binding?
Yes
INSTALL a new power liftgate motor. REFER to Power Liftgate Motor . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.
