Pinpoint Test H: DTC U0212:00
Normal Operation
- DTC U0212:00 (Lost Communication With Steering Column Control Module: Bus Off)- this DTC sets if the steering sensor message that should be received from the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) is missing for 5 seconds or longer.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- SCCM (Steering Column Control Module)
- ABS module
PINPOINT TEST H : DTC U0212:00
H1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
Yes
GO to H2.
No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
H2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, carry out the network test.
Does the SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) pass the network test?
Yes
GO to H3.
No
REFER to Information Bus.
H3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE ABS MODULE AND SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) SELF-TESTS
- Check for recorded ABS module and SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) DTCs from the network test.
Is DTC U3003:16 (or B1318) or DTC U3003:17 (or B1317) recorded?
Yes
For ABS module DTCs, REFER to ABS DTC Chart Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control.
For SCCM (Steering Column Control Module) DTCs, REFER to Steering Column.
No
GO to H4.
H4 CHECK FOR DTCs U0212:00 OR U0212 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test- All CMDTCs (Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
Is DTC U0212:00 or DTC U0212 set in more than one module?
Yes
INSTALL a new SCCM (Steering Column Control Module). TEST the system for normal operation.
REPEAT the ABS module self-test.
No
For vehicles without adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module . TEST the system for normal operation.
For vehicles with adaptive cruise control, INSTALL a new HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit). REFER to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) .
