Pinpoint Test BE: The Memory Feedback Warning Chime Is Inoperative

Normal Operation

The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) receives the memory feedback chime request from the Driver Seat Module (DSM) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) communication bus. When a successful memory set procedure is carried out, the DSM (Driver Seat Module) sends a chime request to the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) to sound the memory feedback chime.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- DSM (Driver Seat Module)

- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)

PINPOINT TEST BE : THE MEMORY FEEDBACK WARNING CHIME IS INOPERATIVE

BE1 CHECK THE KEY-IN-IGNITION WARNING CHIME OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.

- Insert the key into the ignition lock cylinder.

- Open the LH front door and observe the key-in-ignition warning chime operation.

Does the key-in-ignition warning chime operate correctly?

Yes
GO to BE2.

No
GO to Pinpoint Test AZ. Pinpoint Test AZ: The Key-In-Ignition Warning Chime Is Inoperative

BE2 CHECK THE MEMORY SET FEATURE

- Verify that the memory set procedure can successfully change the memory preferences.

Does the memory set procedure successfully change the memory preferences?

Yes
GO to BE3.

No
REFER to Seats.

BE3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes
REFER to DTC Charts. Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes

No
INSTALL a new DSM (Driver Seat Module). TEST the system for normal operation.
