Balance Shaft

1. Check journals for wear, damage or seizure. If excessive damage or seizure is present, check bearing. Replace balance shaft and/or bearing as required.
2. Check shaft oil passages for clogging. Clean or replace as required.
3. Check balance shaft oil clearance as follows:
a. Front clearance should be .0020-.0045 inch (.05-.11mm).
b. Center clearance should be .0031-.0057 inch (.08-.14mm).
c. Rear clearance should be .0031-.0057 inch (.08-.14mm).
d. Replace balance shaft and/or bearings as required.
