Disassembly Note

Caution: The SS3 solenoid may pop out of its bore. This may damage the solenoid.

1. Remove the SS1 and the SS3 clamp and SS1 and SS3 solenoid.
1) Remove the solenoid clamp bolt.
2) Remove the solenoid clamp.
3) Remove the SS1 and SS3 solenoids.





Caution:
^ The torque converter clutch solenoid clutch (TCC) solenoid may pop out of its bore. This may damage the solenoid.
^ The converter modulator valve may come out after the TCC solenoid. This may cause damage to the valve.


2. Remove the SS2, CCS (4R44E only), SS4 (5R55E only), TCC, and EPC solenoids.
1) Remove the solenoid clamp bolt.
2) Remove the solenoid clamp.
3) Remove the SS2, CCS/SS4, TCC, and EPC solenoids.





3. Rotate the main control valve body so that the main control to case gasket is facing up.

Caution:
^ Valves may come out when rotating the main control valve body.
^ The extension housing lube orifice and relief valves may stick to the separator plate.


4. Remove the valve body separator plate screws.
1) Remove the main control to case gasket. Discard gasket.
2) Remove the valve body separator plate screws.





5. Remove valve body separator plate and main control to case gasket.
1) Remove valve body separator plate.
2) Remove main control to case gasket. Discard gasket.





6. Remove the extension housing lube orifice and the metal silver EPC limit relief valve and spring.
1) Remove the extension housing lube orifice.
2) Remove the silver metal EPC limit relief valve and spring.





7. Remove the black plastic converter relief valve and spring.





8. Remove the EPC limit circuit screen.





9. Remove the (four) main control valve body check balls.
