Main Relay - Hard Start After Cold Soak

87mazda04

Category Applicable Model/s Subject Bulletin No. 038/87

15 1986 323 & 626 HARD START/MAIN RELAYS Issued 1/19/87
Revised

DESCRIPTION

Some complaints have been received concerning a hard starting condition during very cold temperatures (approximately 0~F or less). The problem occurs after a car has been driven and then stopped for 30 to 60 minutes. The car then becomes difficult to start, due to frost forming on the No. 1 & 2 main relay contacts.

To prevent this possibility, an improved moisture-proof relay has been established as a service part.

NOTE: On 323 models, the same type of relay has been installed at the production line since June, 1986.. (Please refer to Service Bulletin Cat. 15, No. 034/86).
