Non-Turbo


1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Scribe hood hinge locations and remove hood.
3. Drain engine oil and coolant, then remove air intake pipe.
4. Remove relief silencer hose, then the air cleaner assembly.
5. Remove cooling fan and radiator hoses, then the heater return hose.
6. Disconnect coolant level sensor and radiator switch electrical connector.
7. Remove ATF hose, if equipped, then the radiator and cowling.
8. Disconnect accelerator cable, then the cruise control cable and vacuum hose, if equipped.
9. Disconnect brake vacuum hose, BAC air hose and boost sensor vacuum hose.
10. Disconnect engine harness electrical connectors.
11. Disconnect spark plug wires, then the crank angle sensor, alternator and oil pressure gauge electrical connectors.
12. Disconnect engine ground, then the canister hose and heater hose.
13. Disconnect and plug fuel inlet and return hoses.
14. Disconnect oil cooler pipe and bracket and A/T pipe bracket, if equipped.
15. Remove power steering pump and A/C compressor with hoses still connected, then secure pump and compressor to one side, as required.
16. Remove compressor and pump drive belts, then the dust cover.
17. Raise and support vehicle, then remove engine under cover and exhaust pipe under cover.
18. Remove catalytic converter insulator, then the secondary air pipe and hose.
19. Remove exhaust pipe bracket and exhaust pipe.
20. Remove starter attaching bolts, then the starter.
21. On models equipped with automatic transmission, remove torque converter attaching bolts.
22. On all models, support engine assembly using a suitable jack, then remove transmission to engine attaching bolts.
23. Remove engine mount, then lower engine from vehicle.
24. Reverse procedure to install.
