Air Injection Check Valve: Testing and Inspection
Check Valve In Intake Manifold
1. Disconnect air hose between air pump and air control valve at air pump.
2. Connect tachometer to engine.
3. Start engine and disconnect electrical connector at switching solenoid valve.
4. Increase engine speed to 1500 RPM and check for exhaust gas leakage at air inlet fitting on air control valve.
5. If there is exhaust gas leakage, replace check valve.
Check Valve Between Intake Manifold & Catalytic Converter
1. On non-turbo models, disconnect air hose between intake manifold and catalytic converter at rear of intake manifold.
2. On turbo models, disconnect air hose between intake manifold and check valve at check valve.
3. On all models, connect tachometer to engine, then start engine.
4. Place finger over air hose opening (non-turbo) or check valve opening (turbo).
5. Increase engine speed to 1500 RPM and check for exhaust gas leakage from air hose or check valve opening.
6. If there is exhaust gas leakage, replace check valve.
