Air Injection Pump: Testing and Inspection

1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Check hoses and connections for leaks, the air pump for noise, and the air pump drive belt tension, adjusting, repairing or replacing as necessary.
3. Disconnect air hose between air pump and air control valve at air control valve.
4. Connect air pump gage set 49 2113 010B or equivalent to air hose.
5. Connect tachometer to engine.
6. Start engine, run at idle and observe pressure reading.
7. If pressure is not approximately 1.7 psi at idle, replace air pump.
