Ignition Timing: Adjustments

1. Warm up engine and let it idle.
2. Turn off all electric loads.
3. Connect a tachometer and a timing light.
4. Check idle speed and adjust if necessary Fig. 5.

Idle Speed: 800-850 in park or neutral

6. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the vacuum control, and plug the hoses Fig. 6.

7. With a timing light check that the mark (yellow) on the crankshaft pulley and the timing mark on the timing belt cover are aligned Fig. 7.

Initial timing: 5°-7° BTDC (B2200)
Initial timing: 6°-8° BTDC (B2600)

8. If the marks are not aligned, loosen the distributor body installation nut, and turn the body to make the adjustment. Set to specifications.
9. Remove the timing light and connect the wiring connector to the engine cooling fan.
10. Re-connect the vacuum hoses.
