Test Notes and ECA Computer Connector Pin Chart
ECA Computer Connector Pin Chart:
Do not perform Pinpoint Tests unless instructed to do so by Quick Test. Each Pinpoint Test assumes that a fault has been detected and directs the technician to perform a specific repair routine. Conducting Pinpoint Tests at random without being specifically directed by Quick Test can produce false results and lead to replacement of components that are not defective. When following specified procedures, do not replace any component unless test results conclude that it should be replaced.
Test procedures assume that non-EEC components and/or systems are in good condition. To ensure accurate results, the technician should conduct a thorough inspection and repair any problems that could affect test results (vacuum leaks, low battery voltage, engine mechanical problems, ignition system malfunction, etc.).
Always read and follow instructions at the beginning of a Pinpoint Test. Rerun Quick Test (repeat steps 1.0 through 9.0) after any Pinpoint Test procedure to ensure that the system is operating correctly.
Always use a breakout box to make tests at ECA computer connector pins. Direct probing with a DVOM is likely to result in permanent damage to connectors.
