Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Throttle Sensor Adjustment (A/T):

1. Disconnect throttle sensor connector.
2. Connect ohmmeter between sensor terminals "E" and "IDL."
3. Loosen attaching screws.
4. Insert a 0.01 in (0.25 mm) feeler gauge between throttle stop screw and stop lever.
5. Rotate sensor clockwise approximately 30° and then back counter clockwise until continuity exists.
6. Replace gauge with a 0.016 in (0.4 mm) gauge and verify that continuity does not exist. If not as specified, repeat previous steps.
7. Tighten screws without moving sensor.
8. Open throttle fully and verify resistance between sensor terminals "E" and "Vt" is approximately 5K ohms.
9. If specified adjustment cannot be obtained, replace sensor.
