Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

Neutral Safety Switch: Testing and Inspection

Inhibitor Switch Testing:

1. Raise vehicle and support with safety stands.
2. Disconnect inhibitor switch connector.
3. Check continuity across terminals as described on the accompanying chart.
4. If not correct, adjust inhibitor switch and recheck. Refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES.
5. If correct, check or adjust selector lever.
6. If correct adjustment and continuity specifications cannot be obtained, replace switch.

Inhibitor switch input voltage can be checked at ECU with ignition "ON." In "N" or "P" range terminal voltage should be below 1.0V. In other ranges, voltage should be approximately 12V.
