Barometric Pressure Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Detects changes in barometric pressure corresponding to changes in altitude from sea level and signals ECU.

LOCATION
Integral component of ECU.

OPERATION
The ECU measures changes in the ambient pressure to compensate for changes in altitude. Affected outputs are fuel injection quantity, ignition timing, EGR system control, and purge control solenoid valve.
