Ignition Timing: Adjustments

1. Check engine condition (spark plugs, leaks in hoses, etc.).
2. Turn all electrical loads OFF.
3. Warm engine and run it at idle.
4. Connect timing light tester.
Test Connector:
5. Connect a jumper wire between the test connector (Green: 1- pin) and a ground.

6. Check that the ignition timing mark (YELLOW) on crankshaft pulley and the timing mark on the timing belt cover are aligned.
- Ignition timing: 10--12° BTDC (at idle speed)

7. If the marks are not aligned, loosen the distributor lock bolt, and turn the distributor to make the adjustment.
8. Tighten the distributor lock bolt to the specified torque.
- Tightening torque: 19 - 25 Nm (1.9--2.6 kgf-m, 14 - 19 ft lb)
