Evaporative Emissions System: Testing and Inspection
SOLENOID VALVEChecking Solenoid Valve For Vacuum:
1. Warm engine to operating temperature.
2. Run at idle.
3. Disconnect vacuum hose from charcoal canister and check that no vacuum is felt.
4. If not as specified, disconnect vacuum hose from solenoid valve.
Solenoid Valve Inspection:
5. Blow through valve from hose "A" and check that air does not flow from "B".
Checking Purge Control Valve:
6. Unplug valve connector and connect 12V and a ground across terminals.
7. Check that air flows through valve.
8. If not as specified, replace valve.
SEPARATOR
Fuel Vapor Separator:
1. Pull back right rear side trim.
2. Remove cover.
3. Visually check separator for cracks or leakage.
4. Replace if necessary.
CHECK AND CUT VALVE
1. Remove valve as follows:
^ Pull back right rear side trim.
^ Remove cover.
^ Disconnect evaporative hoses.
^ Remove valve.
Check And Cut Valve Testing:
2. Connect pressure gauge to th passage from th fuel tank.
3. Blow through th valve from "A" and check that it opens at pressure of 0.78-1.00 psi (5.39-6.87 kPa, 0.055-0.07 kg/cm2).
4. Remove pressure gauge and connect to passage to atmosphere.
5. Blow through valve from "B" and check that valve opens at pressure of 0.14-0.71 psi (0.98-4.9 kPa, 0.01 -0.05 kg/cm2).
NOTE: Perform test with valve held horizontally. Otherwise, check balls in valve will close passages.
TWO WAY CHECK VALVE
Two Way Check Valve Inspection:
1. Remove valve.
2. Blow through from "A" and check that air flows.
3. Blow through valve from "B" and check that air does not flow.
