These are "ON/OFF" switches. Located on the transmission, the neutral switch signals the ECU that the gear selector is either in neutral or any other position. The clutch switch is operated by the clutch pedal inside the vehicle and informs the ECU that the clutch is either engaged or disengaged. These inputs are utilized by the ECU in calculations for these outputs:

^ Fuel injection quantity
^ Idle speed control valve
^ Purge control solenoid valve
^ A/C relay/cut-off
^ Igniter (timing control)
^ Pressure regulator solenoid valve
