Ignition Timing Connector: Description and Operation

Octane Adjust Shorting Bar:

The Octane Adjust Shorting Bar, located on the right side fender apron taped to the self-test adapter, permits modification of spark advance if necessary to suit operating conditions.

If engine detonation (spark knock) occurs, removing the shorting bar will retard ignition timing an additional 3 to 4 degrees. If knock continues, switch to a higher octane fuel.
