Manual Transaxle

WARNING: Before performing this test, unplug injector harness connector.

1. Remove distributor.
2. Verify that distributor connector (6 pin) is disconnected.
3. Connect distributor 4 pin connector.
4. Hook up Mazda Engine Signal Monitor and Adapter Harness, or equivalent aftermarket equipment.
5. Rotate distributor by hand and measure output voltage.
6. NE signal, read at PCME terminal 2E, should read approximately 5V with 4 pulses per revolution.
7. G signal, read at PCME terminal 2G, should read approximately 5V with 1 pulse per revolution.
8. After inspection, install distributor and set timing to 11 - 13° BTDC. Tighten mounting bolt to 14 - 18 ft lb (19 - 25 Nm).
