EGR Valve Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Detects EGR valve position and signals PCME. Used to determine if EGR valve and system are functioning within system parameters. If not, PCME will set malfunction code 16.

LOCATION
On top of EGR valve.

OPERATION
Sensor is a variable resistor moved through its range by EGR valve operation. PCME sends a reference voltage and calculates EGR valve position based on resistance through sensor.
