Crankshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR 1
Inspection
1. Remove the distributor.
2. Connect the distributor connector.
3. Connect the Special Service Tools (SSTs) (Engine Signal Monitor and Adapter Harness) to the Powertrain Control Module Engine (PCME) as shown.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON.
Crankshaft Position Sensor 1 - Test Specifications:
5. Rotate the distributor drive by hand and measure the output voltage.
6. After the inspection, install the distributor.
7. Start the engine and adjust the ignition timing.
Ignition Timing: BTDC 11-13°
8. Tighten the distributor lock bolts to the specified torque.
Tightening Torque: 19-25 Nm (14-18 ft.lb.)
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR 2
Inspection
1. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
2. Connect an ohmmeter to the sensor terminals.
3. Measure the resistance of the sensor.
Resistance: 0.95-1.25 k ohms 20°C, (68°F)
4. If not as specified, replace the crankshaft position sensor.
